If you have a dual-boot system with Windows NT and Windows , you must defragment all your disk volumes from the Windows boot. Diskeeper needs access to the root directory on a volume to display the volume in the GUI. Diskeeper needs to be able to access a file to defragment it. You will need to shut down the application that has a file open in this mode in order to defragment it. Boot-Time operations on very large or very fragmented volumes may take longer to complete than expected.

We therefore recommend you do a thorough online defragmentation of a volume before you perform a Boot-Time Defragmentation on it. We also recommend doing the Boot-Time Defragmentation on only one volume at a time.

When running the Diskeeper boot-time operations, you can use the ESC key to terminate the operation. Note that this option is only available if your hardware supports it.
